Reflection

There are a few times in life where it seems as if time stands still and your priorities come into full focus. I had that moment last night when my husband got home from work. He was late, which I had noticed as I cajoled kids into cleaning their room, and when he walked into the house I almost mentioned the time. I'm glad I didn't. My husband teaches out in a rural area and driving home he came upon the car wreck of a fellow teacher. It was a head on collision with another vehicle, a drunk driver. Thankfully she and the other passengers survived, injured yes, but not severely. The point being, priorities shift when the minutia of the day falls away and the light shines like a beacon on those that take precedence over all. So in reflection, I hug my kids, kiss my husband, embrace the little and forget the big because at the end of the day it's just us, our family, at this time, in this moment.

It's scary, isn't it, when these things happen so close to us? But it does make us stop and think and appreciate, I know what you mean.

Funny isn't it, how we can become so obsessed with things like time, someone not being there when they should and then it's because of something so dreadful. Makes you stop and hold your loved ones closer, doesn't it?

Hold onto your wisdom. It can be difficult to maintain our focus as mothers but you are definitely on track here.

Yes. I'm trying to hold onto these moments and remind myself to keep doing it.
